After Ombra, conceptual chaise longue with massage function combining sleek, elegant forms, high-tech materials, and an advanced massage system incorporating small pneumatic airbags integrated into the seat, created in partnership with the Korean company Bodyfriend on the occasion of the 2019 Fuorisalone in Milano, Italdesign renews its collaboration with the world’s leading Korean brand in deluxe healthcare, and designs DAVINCI.
DAVINCI is the world’s first body composition measuring massage chair with the aesthetic sense of Italdesign.
Bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA)
DAVINCI is designed to determine the user’s current fat, muscle, and bone mass, and provide personalized services based on his/her current BIA status. During the daily massage, the user’s body composition is automatically measured without any discomfort, and the measured data helps the early diagnosis of sarcopenia and osteoporosis while also suggesting follow-up measures such as a recommended diet and exercise regimen.
Arm massager with LED function
The arm massager of DAVINCI products includes basic features such as acupressure and heat, and the LED irradiator has a feature to help joint health through the use of irradiating LED lights of a certain wavelength to make the joints, such as those in the hands and wrists, healthier.
In particular, by adding a heating part to the top of the LED guide plate, it transfers heat to the palm of the user’s hand more effectively.
8.7-inch full-touch LCD display
DAVINCI is equipped with a 8.7-inch LCD display that provides high readability, and the UX and UI of the displayed content are also designed to be easier and more intuitive to use than currently marketed massage chairs.
“DAVINCI was a challenging project. It has led us to express our experience to the fullest in dressing up technologies with consistency and balance. DAVINCI is compact, iconic, rational and distinctive and features a clear ‘cocooning’ effect, an enveloping and protective shell with elegant ergonomics, to relax and, above all, benefit from the multiple functions with which DAVINCI is equipped. At the same time, its shape responds to functional needs, such as facilitation in transport and storage.The color palette used for this massage chair refers to the medical world, with blue, the color of sanitary and wellness, and white, the ideal color also for the domestic, medical and technological sectors. The metallic grey components, on the other hand,refer to our many automotive research prototypes. And in general, there’s an explicit reference to the automotive world, recognizable in features such as the side light elements that indicate the type of massage activated at the moment or the spin immediately below the footrest“, said Massimo Borrelli, Italdesign Senior Industrial Designer.
