Created as part of Volkswagen’s racing programme, the Tarek was developed as a sports car designed specifically for rallies. It made its debut in the 2003 Paris-Dakar race.
With its tubular chassis and carbon fibre body, the Tarek was the ideal car for extreme, long drawn-out rallies such as the Paris-Dakar: light at just 1100 kg and lively with its 218 hp 1.9 TDI engine.
